Change and Growth

Look to the beautiful leaves to remind you that change is inevitable.

There are only a few more weeks left of 2019, and I don’t know about you but I am super excited about finishing 2019 with new habits and changes for the better. October was a challenge for me in more ways than one, but the one thing I new I had to do was get unstuck.

Have you ever felt stuck and uninspired? Have you wanted something different and new for some time now, but not sure of what that is?

Here are some of the ways I make sense of how I feel when stuck and how I work my way to more clarity:

  • Spend more time meditating – This can be for as little as 3 minutes (I strongly recommend at least 10 minutes) a day, but try to include meditation in your day at least twice a day. Not sure of how to meditate? Try using Insight Timer (a free app on iTunes), to help you get started. You can also search meditations on Youtube, download the Calm app, and/or the Headspace app.
  • Write and read positive affirmations – Affirmations help to retrain our subconscious brain to focus on positive outcomes as opposed to negative ones. I find it helpful to write them and then say them aloud several times a day. Affirmations are always written in the present and focus on positive outcomes. For example, “I am grateful for my abundant life. I am grateful for my health and for my family. I am grateful to be able to serve others in my teaching career everyday. I am open to learning new ways to live my purpose and serve others. All is coming together for me.”
  • Write in a journal – Spend some time, either right before bed or right after you wake up, to write in a journal. You can even listen to a brief meditation then journal afterwards. I journal once a day, usually before bedtime and I also like to include a positive affirmation before I go to sleep to keep my thoughts positive.
  • Take a walk – You can walk outside, weather permitting, or you can walk on a treadmill or at a mall. Moving your body without distractions, allows you time to breathe and think. Focus on your breath and ask, “What is my spirit asking me to change? “ “When do I feel the most alive and happy?” Allow time and quiet for the answers to come.

Today is a great day to start new habits and push yourself out of your comfort zone.  Start with one of my suggestions, then add another the next week, and so on. I can’t wait to hear about the changes you will make.

Namaste!
